Glitter
I told him he had glitter on his cheek, between the stubble.
‘I don’t know where it has come from’ he said.
‘It’s come from inside’ I replied.
He glanced at me, all sky blue eyes, sharp cheekbones and long shaggy hair and he glittered.
I me
‘I me’ I say at the beginning of days.
‘Yes, you are you daddy’ she always says.
It’s like our shared mantra, a call and an answer.
The air that breathes and a timeless dancer.
Never fails
A soft conversation in the morning light next to our wardrobe.
‘Never fails’ I say.
‘These aren’t my never fails’ she says with a grin like the birth of a new star.
How the loved glow.
‘Whatever pair you wear are your never fails’ I say.
And the star goes supernova.
I implode quietly and we get on with our day.
